Publishing
Unpublishing
Take a site offline without deleting it.
Unpublishing takes a site off the public internet but keeps everything — the chat history, every version, the custom domains — intact. You can republish later with one click.
How to unpublish
- In the editor toolbar, open the menu next to Republish.
- Click Unpublish.
- A confirmation dialog appears. Optionally tick Remove custom domains if you also want to disconnect any domains attached to this site.
- Confirm.
Within seconds, the public URL (subdomain and any custom domains still attached) returns a “not found” page.
When to unpublish
- Launching soon? Keep the site unpublished while you iterate.
- Campaign ended? Unpublish once the page has served its purpose.
- Migrating? Unpublish before switching domains between sites.
- Cancelling hosting? Unpublish first, then cancel the subscription. See Hosting subscriptions.
What happens to…
- Your chat history and versions. Untouched. Reopen the site in the editor any time.
- Your custom domain. Stays attached unless you tick “Remove custom domains”. An unchecked domain keeps its DNS binding but serves nothing until you republish.
- Form submissions. Existing submissions stay in the inbox. New submissions can’t happen because the form is no longer served.
- Your hosting subscription. Not cancelled. Unpublishing only takes the site off the internet. You still pay for hosting unless you also cancel — see Managing billing in Stripe.
Republishing later
Just click Republish in the editor. The latest version is pushed live again and your subdomain (and any still-attached custom domains) starts serving it.
